Welcome to my new column, The Wasatch Wardrobe. Here you'll become enlightened on the latest fashion trends and educated on how to best enforce your wardrobe to always embellish your most attractive traits. No matter your age, gender, education or career, this column will coach you on all that you need to know on fashion to survive society.
I've worked as a personal stylist for the past five years and for part of that time I've been charmed to have been mentored by one of Hollywood's top celebrity stylists in Los Angeles. There, we'd dress celebrities for the Emmys, Oscars, Grammys, talk shows, premiers, charities and all other events they'd attend. I was thrilled to handle one-of-a-kind gowns, jewels, bags and shoes on a daily basis directly from the finest designers in the world such as: Chanel, Botkier, Jimmy Choo, Bvlgari, Marni and many more.
I moved back to Utah to marry the perfect beau and have continued styling working with personal clients, photographers, commercials, television and all other forms of media. I want to bring to you the dose of vogue that can be adapted for everyone.
Our appearance is something that should never be put on the sidelines, but instead a passion that we all look forward to being involved in. Style equates to who we are and who we want to be portrayed as a person. Everyone has extravagant qualities on the inside, it's important that they're arrayed on the outside.
This week's column will start with what to expect in back-to-school fashion, for all the high school girls.
In case you've missed it, faux leather this season is a must. It's been taking over the runways and defeating the stereotype of only being worn as a winter textile.
Faux has most popularly been used as a trim on blouses and jackets, however if you're up to making more of a statement, then wearing it as pants will accentuate some attitude.
Model Devin Lindley also wears the ethereal draping article of a kimono. These are no longer just a tradition for the Japanese but instead have been picked up for one of the top trends transitioning into fall. The kimono gives you both a sense of cultural elegance and uniqueness while feeling comfortable all at the same time.
Other pieces to be on the lookout for are box tops and trousers. Sierra Bergmann's trousers display animal prints, which are a girl's best friend this season. I'm not talking about the classic leopard or cheetah print (although, those are great too), but I'm specifically referring to prints of animals right on your clothing. Polka dots and stripes are no longer the only ones taking the pattern crown, it's now time to let those pretty animals shine in ways that you had never planned on wearing.
Box tops are a trend that can steer a shopper away, but don't fret about the style not fitting exactly right. They're not supposed to. As you see pictured, these tops can be thrown on with most any bottoms -- trousers, skinny jeans and skirts. These tops show that you care about what you're wearing without worrying too much about the perfect fitting shirt that day.
