Danica Patrick (Brian Spurlock/USA TODAY Sports)BRISTOL, Tenn. – Not many NASCAR drivers receive gifts from track owners, but Danica Patrick is apparently the exception.
Speedway Motorsports Inc. chairman Bruton Smith recently gave Patrick another pair of high-dollar shoes to go with a similar gift in 2010.
“Bruton has now given me two pairs of shoes, which is now one more than Ricky (Stenhouse Jr., her boyfriend),” she said with a laugh. “I’m just kidding.”
Stenhouse gave Patrick a pair of cowboy boots, but Smith’s gift – which he gave to Patrick at July’s New Hampshire race – were Jimmy Choos.
“They are very fancy, very dressy,” Patrick said. “I haven’t found the right occasion for them. I thought I was going to wear them during the ESPYs, but it didn’t match my dress right.”
Smith’s initial gift were Y. Jaiselle shoes, which Patrick reported were “very comfortable.”
Clearly, Patrick is not the normal NASCAR driver preparing for Saturday night’s race at Bristol.
“Sometimes, it’s just good to be a girl,” she said.
