Over the years we've seen many celebrities light up the TIFF red carpets with gorgeous fashions and this year will be no exception. But how do stars like Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts manage to fly in for the night and achieve their flawless looks? Well, that's thanks to the help of pro stylists like Corey Ng.
Corey recently stopped by the Yahoo! Canada offices for a quick Q&A on the secrets to styling Hollywood's A-list:
Can you walk us the typical process for styling a celebrity at TIFF?
Usually there would be a month to two months of preparation. First the stylist will need details on the TIFF itinerary because other than the red carpet, there are also press conferences, press junkets, and other media events. So celebrities like Jennifer Aniston work with their stylists in L.A. to put the looks together and then the wardrobe comes with them when they come into town.
What can go wrong?
Because the items are shipped in, often times packages don't arrive on time or some of the items may be missing from the package—that's when you have to skip to plan B.
What are some of the secret items in your stylist arsenal?
My personal favourite is a little sponge called a deodorant eraser. It's a pre-oiled sponge and it removes deodorant and makeup.
We often see stars teetering around in high heels that are much too big—why is that?
Stars are often wearing sample shoes, which only come in select sizes, so it's always important to have a lot of insoles on-hand. It's also best to go with a closed-toe shoe to try and disguise an ill-fit.
What celebrities are you excited to see this year?
I'm really excited to see Nicole Kidman. I love her and I think she'll go that extra step to make TIFF glamorous.
