Muddy Shoes And Personal Development At Cresto Ranch Colorado
Since we love us some glamping, we were excited to learn last year that there was going to be an option closer to home than the African bush, with Colorado’s Dunton Hot Springs opening Cresto Ranch, a set of eight en-suite luxury tents four miles downriver from the main resort.
Open since June 1, and until October 31 for its seasonal closure, Cresto Ranch has partnered with Muddy Shoe Adventures to allow you to get your glamp on and have a ‘transformational adventure’ at the same time. What that means, we’ll tell you.
Muddy Shoe was started by Dr. Michael Bennett, who did his doctoral research on transformational learning based on adventure travel (who knew you could do that?). It combines “travel, physical adventure, immersion in nature, supportive group environments, facilitated group discussions and personal coaching to achieve “transformational travel”.”
At Cresto Ranch, that means four days of reflection and outdoorsy-ness all thrown together from September 20 to 24. Each day has a theme: "Exploring where you are now in your journey," "Exploring the fundamentals of who you are," "Envisioning where you want to go" and "Developing your plan to get there."
Days start with yoga or guided meditation, there is breakfast and a group session, after which you can explore the 1,600 acre wilderness through various activities. In the evening, there’s a recap of the day and dinner at a communal table in the main farmhouse.
Including accommodations, all meals and beverages, local airport transfers, and all activities, you’re looking at $9,000 for two people sharing a tent. Transformational adventure is less easily achieved on a budget, we suppose. But we’re curious to hear what you think aside from the price, so dear readers, what say you? Eager to get on the phone and book? Or not so sure?
