Ladies, there is a very good chance that your next pair of running shoes could come straight from a bra factory. No joke! In the latest bid to design the perfect sneaker, Under Armour[1] has taken inspiration[2] from spacesuits and combined it with a latest innovation from the bra for its new SpeedForm athletic shoe.
While this sounds like the most random combination ever, Under Armour promises this sneaker will give you the "Holy Grail of fit." Like a bra, the shoe is almost like wearing a second skin. The heel cup is one piece of material, with no stitching or insole. The fit is so close to your actual foot that some have compared[3] it to looking like you're wearing a pair of socks. The idea is the better the fit, the faster you will run.
Check it out!
It's kind of hard to imagine a small, custom-fitted bra cup holding on to my heel while I run, but that's the idea. “We need to be differentiated, and SpeedForm really gives us that,” said chief executive officer Kevin Plank, on an earnings call. The shoes are available for a limited-time only, for $120.
Does this sound crazy to you, or are you kind of intrigued and want to pick up a pair of SpeedForms?
